France is the 7^th largest country in the world by GDP. Its GDP is about $3 trillion. The country expects to get 100 million tourists a year in future. The population of France is about 68 million. It is one of the largest countries in Europe.

Tourism takes about 8%-10% of GDP. Moreover, EUR/USD exchange impacts tourism quiet a lot. For example, since start of 2024 to December 13th the EUR/USD changed from 1.104 to 1.005, but during 2024 many peaks and bottoms in currencies occur. The euro was as much as 1.121. The biggest number of visitors to Frances come from the UK. About half or more of visitors come from Europe. Therefore, EUR/GBP or euro to British pound rate is influencing when many of these tourists come and how much they spend. Most of the visitors come from UK, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland. Around 40 million of tourists to France come from Europe. Recently, the growing numbers of tourists came from Asia.

Food tourism

Particularly interesting for food lovers is food tourism. France has Steak au Poivre, Steak Frites, Champagnes, wines, Ratatouille, Crème brulee, éclair, crossaint and other to offer. Popular food has a big list from beef bourguignon and onion soup to Croque Monsieur sandwiches, pot-au-feu, chocolate mousse, cassoulet, bouillabaisse, and coq au vin.

There are more than 1,500 different types of cheese in France. Wine tourism alone attracts more than 10 million people. Regions as Burgundy, Bordeaux and Champagne are known for wine lovers.
